The meeting on November 19th was a very important one for the future of the club. We’re looking to increase participation in 2012, so we took some proactive measures to make sure that happens.
Conversation points of note:
- Elections: We decided on the club’s 2012 executive committee to disperse ownership of various responsibilities necessary to make things happen.
- Membership: In order to plan fun events for the club and get membership cards printed (which gets each member 10% off purchases at homebrew shops), we agreed that a small budget is necessary. Membership into the club will cost you a small annual fee of $20. Next year’s dues will be collected at the next meeting, Saturday 12/17, 4:00pm at Pracna.
- Agenda: We’ve had lots of great discussion at our meetings in 2011 but we lacked structure. During our November meeting, we agreed upon a format for future meetings. Future meetings will run as follows:
- Introductions/misc. (5 min.)
- Announcements/upcoming events/new business (15 min.)
- Group experiments update (5 min.)
- Financial Report (5 min.)
- Education session (20 min.) Sign up ahead of time to prepare a tutorial on a brew-related topic, then plan to field questions from the group
- General Q&A (10 min.)
- Break (5 min.)
- Tasting (20 min.) Sign up ahead of time to have your beers critiqued by the group. We’ll plan to taste and provide feedback on up to four different beers per meeting. First four beers submitted will be tasted by the group. You’ll need to bring four 12 oz. bottles of your submission to split amongst the group. Everyone is welcome to bring more homebrew for informal tasting later in the meeting.
- What’s on tap? (5 min.) Suggest items of discussion for next month.
- Social hour/open discussion
- By-laws: We’re working on formulating by-laws for the group. We’ll finalize these in December.
We’re all excited for the December meeting and to get things rolling for 2012!
