If you attended the 10/18 meeting (meeting notes coming soon… wanted to get this done first) or have been paying attention to the email chain(s), we’ve got four barrels on loan to the club from Casey that need filling. We need to first determine styles so club members know if they’re even interested in participating. We WANT members to be interested in participating, which is why our members get to determine via (largely) democratic process what styles of beer barrel project participants will collectively brew to fill these four barrels (236 gallons!). The poll below will be left open until end of day 10/31/12, after which it will be disabled and votes tallied with a report out via blog post by end of day 11/2/12.
Stuff to consider:
- Members (only) can vote once via the form below.
- Voter names will be vetted against the club member list.
- If you vote more than once, we’ll use your latest vote, but please just vote once.
- You should only vote if you theoretically would participate at some #gallons level (depending on the outcomes of the poll, of course). If you don’t see yourself even theoretically participating, we ask that you leave your opinion out of these decisions.
- This isn’t 100% democratic. Casey and Aaron will be able to exert veto power over style choices, as these are Casey’s barrels and Aaron is nice enough to let us keep them at his place. We may just end up taking the top six vote getters and letting Casey and Aaron nix two of them. We’ll have to see what the distribution of the results looks like first.
- Once styles are determined, your ultimate participation in gallons will be up to you and whomever else wants to contribute to each particular barrel, but likely in approximately 5 gallon increments for obvious reasons.
- We’d discussed at the 10/18 meeting having two clean and two sour barrels, but ultimately your votes will basically determine the direction the club takes. If you agree with that proposed direction, vote accordingly. If you don’t, vote as to how you think it should play out.
- Keep in mind, any of these beers could go sour or even straight-up rank. Or they could turn out amazing. You would contribute at your own risk.
- Read Nick’s aroma notes at the top of the form to get an idea of what that particular barrel might be good for.
