This month we are meeting at Midwest Supplies in St Louis Park as ESNS is serving the community with tax prep. Midwest has been gracious enough to lend us their space for the evening. Make sure to arrive before 7PM.

February Recap

Monthly Meeting

As it happens every February, Eastside Neighborhood Services is busy offering the community tax preparations services. So the lovely folks at Northern Brewer were more than willing to host us as well as impart some knowledge about yeast as our monthly education topic. Ryan Lear gave a great presentation on yeast health, starters, pitching rates, harvesting, washing and slanting. To top it off, they kept the registers open and gave us a special discount. A big Thank you to all the folks at Northern Brewer Minneapolis for their support.

This was the first meeting with the new Nordeast Brewers Alliance Executive committee. All new members were present, Aaron De Boer – President, Aaron Hamann – Vice President, Steve Mittleset – Director of Operations, Perrin Bishop-Wright – Director of Communication and Technology, and absent was Matt Price – Director of Finance.

Science Museum of Minnesota – Fermentation Informational. Yup, we are going back! 

The NBA is headed back to the 2015 Fermentation Informational to do two of the things we do best. Sharing our knowledge and sharing beer. Once again, we are doing an emphasis on hops. We have yet to hear back about pouring beer but we have the plans to brew it, and will be ready to serve it.

2015 – The year of Mini Experiments – Mini Experiment #1 Wood Aged

The Nordeast Brewers Alliance prides it’s self on knowledge and experiments. With 2015, we want to make it the year of the mini experiments. So for our first one of the year, Tyler Bye generously donated a bunch of HONEY COMB® Barrel Alternative pieces from Black Swan Cooperage for members to try out. It was asked that members have their beer ready to drink at the April meeting and the only requirement was to pitch a proper healthy amount of yeast.

2015 Single Hop Experiment

We are super excited to announce that Northgate Brewing has agreed t make wort for our Single Hop experiment this year. Tentatively we are planning on Big Brew Day (May 2nd 2015), but we will post a sign-up sheet as soon as we have all the details firmed up.

Chow Girls Follow Up

The lovely people at Chow Girls asked us in return of letting us use their awesome space, that we brew some beer for their annual party. Long story short, it was a ton of fun. We brought 17 gallons of beer, they drank 17 gallons of beer.
