Good times had by all today at the NBA’s summer BBQ and low-gravity homebrew competition. Over 30 in attendance enjoyed some great food and some truly exceptional beers (and homemade soda!). The Nordeast Big River Brew Fest homebrew competition wrapped up today with final category judging and the best-of-show round. A HUGE CHEERS to NBA ExComm club member Tyler Bye for taking the lead role in managing this competition. Many of us pitched in, but Tyler was the driving force. That’s how you debate!
We had over 150 entries in the first year of our competition. Thanks to all the entrants and sponsors for your support in making this a success. Check out the pic below for a listing of all those who placed in each category. Entrants: if you were unable to pick up your scoresheets/medals/prizes at the competition today, we’ll be handing these out at our club meeting at East Side Neighborhood Services this coming Thursday evening, 10/18 at 7:00pm. Those who aren’t able to make the meeting will have applicable items mailed to them.

Last night was our 2nd Annual Single Hop Experiment and it was amazing. We met at the East Side Neighborhood Services and about 30 members and guests were able to sample a plentitude of hoppy goodness. What: Tasting of 19 different hop varieties showcased with the same base beer recipe.
When: THIS THURSDAY July 19 7:00-10:00pm
Where: 1700 2nd St NE 55413 – East Side Neighborhood Services (There will be other things going on, so be sure to be respectful)
Parking: Lot right behind the building
Who: All club members, and any pro brewer/beer geek invited by the ExComm (ie. Indeed, Harriet, 612Brew, MNBeer.com, Dangerous Man, MN Beer Activist, Brewing TV, Four Firkins, NorthGate, maybe a couple others)
*To ensure we have enough supplies, this is not a +1 event. However, we will be selling memberships at the door.
